The Story Behind DrillFlo
DrillFlo was founded in 2024 with a simple belief: getting started as a drill designer shouldn’t be hard.
For decades, drill writers and band directors have relied on tools that were powerful but difficult to learn, expensive to access, and slow to adapt. Getting started often meant navigating confusing interfaces, long learning curves, and software that only ran well on high-end computers.
For many potential educators and designers, those barriers prevented them from getting started.
Why We Built DrillFlo
We built DrillFlo to remove the friction that existed in drill writing for marching bands for far too long.
The marching arts have evolved. Productions are more creative, teams are more collaborative, and expectations are higher than ever. But the software used to design drill has largely stayed the same.
We saw:
Tools that were intimidating for first-time designers.
Software that required expensive, specialized computers.
Workflows built around saving files instead of collaborating.
Very little innovation in how drill is actually designed.
So we decided to build something different.
